Baraha is a program that provides the functionality for creating and viewing documents in various native Indian languages. A list of supported scripts includes Kannada, Bengali, Oriya, Telugu, Gujarati, Malayalam, Tamil, Gurumukhi, and Devanagari. The supporting fonts for these languages are automatically installed in the system during the installation process. The program's interface can be in English or in any of the supported languages, but the menus are only in English or Kannada.
This new version of the program provides a rich text editor called BarahaPad which looks similar to Microsoft WordPad and contains all the basic functions, such as the ability to find and replace characters, copy, paste, cut, add pictures and many others. It also enables you to export the written text to Microsoft Word or simply save the file as a Baraha document (.BRH).
The Baraha Sorting Utility that comes with this software package allows you to order many words of any of the supported Indian scripts alphabetically. The result can be exported as a plain text file. The Baraha Conversion Utility is another small program that is included; it helps you to convert the encoding of the scripts of the supported languages into Latin, Unicode, UTF-8 and ANSI.
